Learn more about David
David is an ordained pastor in the United Methodist Church and has worked with individuals and families for over two decades. Throughout this time, he has provided compassionate care to people navigating the full range of life’s challenges and circumstances. David’s primary purpose has been to help others find hope even in the most difficult situations.
David’s life has been profoundly shaped by experiences in nature, especially while working and volunteering at summer camps and retreats. He believes many of the challenges people face are exacerbated by a lack of connection with creation. Much of his work has focused on restoring a natural balance to one’s life.
David worked as a campus minister at Belmont University for nine years. While offering care to students, he noticed that many of them were struggling to receive appropriate mental healthcare. This recognition led him to pursue education and training as a social worker. After completing his Master of Science in Social Work degree, David worked for three years at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital on two inpatient units as well as the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
David’s approach to therapy involves establishing a genuine rapport with clients from which honest and vulnerable discussions can be held. He primarily uses modalities from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. David also has experience with Exposure and Response Prevention for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Internal Family Systems Theory for experiences of trauma.
David loves sports, movies, music, and traveling with his wife and two children. Despite the suffering it often brings, David is an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
